Experience Hawaii’s rich, farming and ranching heritage at this one-of-a-kind, chef-driven gathering spot. Developed by the same company that created Monkeypod Kitchen, Moku Kitchen brings a unique upcountry downtown vibe to SALT at Our Kaka‘ako. Moku Kitchen is home to one of the first keg wine systems in the state of Hawaii. It also features a visible kiawe wood burning pizza oven, an expo rotisserie roaster and 36 craft beers on tap. Much like the Hawaiian meaning of its name, “Moku” Kitchen’s culinary dishes use fresh ingredients from local farmers as far upcountry as the mountains all the way down to the ocean shores. Chef Peter Merriman’s unique, locally sourced dishes are best served alongside a craft beer or a glass of sustainable wine, and best shared with family and friends.

We’ve been wanting to check this place out ever since it opened but never really found the time to go. So I leaped at the chance for Valentines Day! And Moku did not disappoint! From the minute we walked we were met with many to the senses; the tranquil melodic sounds of jazz guitar from their daily live entertainment filling the room, the delectable smell of perfected rotisserie chicken and prime rib floating from the kitchen, and a modern feel to the décor. The host pulled up our reservations quickly and escorted us to our table. Which was exactly what I requested, “A booth table close to the entertainment.” Only thing is that the booth was the one right by the stage and we had our son sleeping in his stroller :/ and this is the reason I give Moku 5 Stars!
Our host saw where we were and quickly changed our table to a large booth in the corner, for some privacy for our baby son, but still close enough to the entertainment that my wife and I could enjoy. We were ecstatic!

The rest of the night went amazing! Our son slept for most of our dinner (for all you parents out there you know that is a gift in it self. . . “Hot food!” 🙂 )
I got the prime rib and my wife got the rotisserie chicken, it was sublime.

Over all I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food, great atmosphere, daily live entertainment and GREAT SERVICE!

Monkeypod quality without having to take the drive if you live in town. The ravioli pupu is unreal and the drink specials rotate so there is always a good value to take advantage of. Also open on Sunday’s which is a plus if you are in the downtown area.

The cheeseburger here is legendary. Everything tastes farm-fresh, with a positive atmosphere, and the service is great. Altogether, a wonderful new addition to Kakaako.
